Contrary to my past blogging efforts, I actually waited to do my New Years blog to coincide with the Beginning of the Chinese New Year, Which is today, the 23rd of January, 2012… The Year of the Dragon…
I was born in the Year of the Dragon in 1952, and the element for that Dragon Year was Water, the same as it is for this year….This feels especially auspicious to me…as I will be turning 60 this year…I think it’s time for a tiny dragon tatoo to celebrate…I have a feeling my Dragon will manifest itself in many ways this year and I am very excited about the prospects that have already presented themselves in this month of January!
For starters, I have sent some of my work off to the Honolulu Acadamy of Arts Museum Shop. During our many years of living in Hawaii, The Honolulu Acadamy of Arts was always one of my favorite places. The buildings, the galleries, and the courtyards always invoke such a feeling of ancient memory and peace everytime I go there…I am so honored that they are considering putting my work in their shop.
The second really lovely thing to happen “Out of the Blue” was a meeting with one of the gallery owners of The Petroglyphe Gallery in Mokelumne Hill, California. Some of my work will also be showing there. I will also be teaching a workshop at the Gallery, called “An Alternative approach to Felting” in the last weekend of March, and a second workshop (date to be announced) on “an Alternative approach to Nuno Felting”. I am excited about teaching these workshops in the upcoming months.
With so much work going out, space has been created for New Work to come! I am looking forward to working with some new fabrics for nuno felting and creating some brand new scarves, both nuno felted and regular…. Lots of ideas about Creating “Dragoncloth”, “Dragongear”, “Dragonlace”, “Dragonskin”, “Dragonwraps”, “Dragonjewels”, “Dragonarmor”, “Dragonmemories”, “Dragonangels”, “Dragonspirits”, “Dragonhearts”, “Dragonkisses”, “Dragonstones”, “Dragonfire”, “Dragonelements”, “Dragonwater”, and “Dragonwear” for all of us “Dragon Nomads” out there….
May the Year of the Dragon be an exciting and exhilarating Year, full of Fabulous Creativity, Forward Movement, Neutrality, Perserverance, Auspiciousness, Abundance, and Compassion.
